In the movie eight below, 75 lb huskies snap a 2 inch steel chain. This seems impossible to me, i don't?

think the worlds strongest man could break this chain. Did they say that the chain weakens in the cold or something in the movie? if so why would they use them if the dogs have superhuman strenght and can break out of them? Otherwise the movie was great.
