Need surgery, no money or insurance?
I am needing to have a submandibular gland excision (removal of a salivary gland). I am self employed (i live in TX close to amarillo) i don't make that much money anyway but especially now because of this very painful debilitating condition, i can't afford insurance, was denied medicaid due to receiving child support and my daughter receiving disability payments and they said that because of all that i make too much (even though all that money goes to rent, bills, and taking care of my disabled child) am seeing an ear, nose and throat dr but he says that since i'm self pay i have to pay everything up front (which is going to be anywhere from $5000 to $10,000 for the surgery, hospital stay, anesthesia, etc.) hospital wants the money upfront also...if i were rich it would be no problem but i'm not and i have no clue where else to turn...this condition keeps me from eating solid foods (i'm a diabetic and it's not a good thing not to be able to eat...starting to affect my diabetes) SEVERE pain that keeps me from doing my job....does anyone know of who i can contact to get help?? There is a clinic in amarillo that is for indigent people but they don't accept people that don't live in the counties of potter or randall....I'm at a total loss as to what to do...any legitimate advice greatly appreciated!
