1st time skater EVER - start with longboards first? spliff, boca? HELLP.?

It's going to be my first time skating EVER, but i want to start skating so i can get around campus. It's too small for a bike and too long to walk, so I have been thinking of getting a skateboard to get around. My friend recommended I start off with a small longboard. I've been looking online, and it says the best skateboard to get around is a spliff or a boca, possibly 180 mm with khiro bushings (whatever that is?), 1/4" soft risers, and front truck wedged to 70 and back to 60-65. I have no idea what kind of skateboard I have just described nor do I know what a spliff and a boca is. I'm a 5'5, 115 lb female, so I don't know which board is best or if its a good idea at ALL to start riding in college...? If you can help, that'll be greatly appreciated! :))
