Where can I read very simplified versions of the main religious texts?

there's books out there of the main important stories minus the " x begat y begat z" stuff. this is probably a search better suited to amazon. just look up bible stories or something. I doubt that such a thing exists for dianetics, however. i think that's really more of an evil self-help manual, though ive never read it.
